Building Educational Equity in New Jersey
TIP formally launched with a day-long conference in May 2017 that convened educators, researchers, community members, organizers, and lawyers to explore the structural barriers to achieving and maintaining racially inclusive public schools. Participants also discussed best practices for educating children in ways that are sensitive to their varied needs and talents.
Since this conference we have focused our efforts on developing a diverse network of community, civic, and institutional leaders who are working to advance racial equity in New Jersey. Our ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive civil rights agenda for public education in the state in partnership with this network.
